Girls SySTEM Mentorship was integral for my foundation as a girl in STEM. As a past mentee from 2020-2022, I learned a lot about STEM pathways and skills from their workshops ranging from University Prep to Women in STEM panels. I had the chance to meet numerous mentors and learn more about different STEM fields, inspiring me to pursue more than I thought was possible. My experience as a mentee enhanced my passions and knowledge, supporting my journey as an upper-year Life Sciences student at the University of Toronto. The Girls SySTEM Mentorship community is incredibly supportive, and it had always inspired me to learn and explore STEM.
As the current UNITY+ Stream Coordinator of Girls SySTEM Mentorship, I hope to elevate the mentee experience through the Diversi-STEM conference, establishing a space for innovation and inclusion.
The first Diversi-STEM took place in 2025 with a virtual panel and an in-person conference event. I was truly inspired by how the attendees engaged in discussions and activities, showing their dedication to learn about diversity in STEM.
The second Diversi-STEM conference, Diversi-STEM: Beyond Borders, explored how STEM innovations can transcend borders, whether it is through art or across populations.
With more hands-on workshops and an infographic submission for mentees, Diversi-STEM 2026 gave mentees the chance to think outside the box and apply their thinking to creative activities!

Diversi-STEM Conference
March 2025
The first annual Diversi-STEM conference was Girls SySTEM Mentorship’s first in-person conference, focused on promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM. The event featured a virtual panel and a full-day, in-person conference in Toronto. Attendees learned from diverse speakers, including Dr. Gracia Dong, Hannah Frazer, Dr. Kathryn Hong, and Dr. Christina Choi, participated in workshops and networking, and engage in activities centered on themes like intersectionality, mentorship, and leadership in STEM.
Diversi-STEM Conference

The second annual Diversi-STEM conference was designed to inspire diversity, creativity, and innovation in STEM. Centered on the theme Beyond Borders, the event brought together mentees for a full day of keynote talks, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities. Participants explored how STEM intersects with disciplines like art while connecting with peers and mentors in a supportive, inclusive environment.
